Solution 1) Repair ND and TLG configuration files by making changes to their names
- On the keyboard, press Windows + E keys at once to open File Explorer.
- Open the folder that contains QuickBooks company files by navigating to the following path: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files.
- In the folder, search for the files with the same file name as the company file but with extensions .nd and .tlg (company_file.qbw.nd and company_file.qbw.tlg)
- Right-click the .nd file and choose the Rename option.
- Add the text “OLD” at the end of the filename.
- Similarly, add the text “OLD” at the end of the .tlg filename.
- Now, open the QuickBooks Desktop application and try to sign in to the company file.
Solution 2) Get the QuickBooks Desktop application updated to the latest release
- Press Windows key on the keyboard to open the Start menu.
- Type “QuickBooks Desktop” into the search box and right-click the QuickBooks Desktop version that you want to update.
- Choose the Run as administrator option and then type the admin password of QuickBooks.
- On the keyboard, press Windows + R keys to open the Run command window.
- Type “C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files” into the Run dialog box.
- In the folder, look for the company file (with the .qbw file extension) and right-click it.
- Press & hold the Alt key on the keyboard, and at the same time, choose the Open option.
- On the No Company Open window, select the Help menu, and then choose the Update QuickBooks Desktop option.
- On the Options tab, select the Mark All option.
- Move on to the Update Now tab, checkmark the Reset Update checkbox, and then click on the Get Update option.
- Close down the No Company Open window and open QuickBooks Desktop.
- At last, select the Yes option when QuickBooks asks for your permission to install downloaded updates.
